Once you have registered for the course you will have 90 days to complete the material. The course is divided into 11 modules with accompanying video lessons and questions. These can be completed at your own pace over the 90-day period.

All AAA registered members and restricted practitioners are required to complete the course. 

Yes, you are required to complete the online course even if you previously completed the AAA in-person version of the course. The online course will act as a refresher and the course includes new material regarding the National Energy Code for Buildings 2011. Members who completed the original classroom course are being offered the online course at a substantially reduced price. Ensure that you are logged in to obtain the discounted price.

  • Once purchased, you will receive an email confirming the purchase along with a second email with instructions on how to access the BEC.

The course is comprised of 11 modules with approximately 4.5 hours of video instruction. Questions accompany most modules. The PDFs that accompany the videos serve as supplemental resource material.

A passing grade of 80% is required on all course modules. A completion certificate is emailed to the student upon successful completion of all modules. 

Upon successful completion of the course, members will receive 7.0 Structured learning hours. The AAA will update member transcripts.

No, the reference book is optional. The content is intended to support and supplement the videos which form the basis of the course. PDFs accompany the video material and include the same content as found in the reference book.

No, the course is not a professional development requirement for Licensed Interior Designers, but is optional.

Yes, all members are welcome to purchase the course. It is a mandatory professional development requirement for registered members and restricted practitioners.

Yes, the course is available for purchase to individuals who are not AAA members. Non-members need to use the ‘Create a New Account’ feature located on the AAA ‘sign in’ page of the website and then purchase the course.

You have access to the course material for a period of 90 days. Once expired you will need to re-register for the course.

Members who have not completed the building envelope course by the required deadline will be issued an invoice for the $750.00 non-compliance fee and will receive a Notice of Intent to Cancel Registration from the Registrar.
